The Al Wathba Fossil Dunes Protected Area comprises of more than 1,700 fossil dunes, spread over 7 square kilometres, making it one of the largest numbers of fossil dunes concentrated in one location in the emirate. Geologists estimate the age of fossil formations within the protected location at over four million years.

Move over Hollywood – Abu Dhabi now has the tallest landmark sign in the world, according to the Guinness World Record. The recognition was given to the Liwa board, located in the Al Dhafra Region Municipality. Situated on a hill 197 metres above sea level, the structure is 23.5m tall – much taller than Hollywood’s sign (13.7m).

Moreeb Dune or Tal Moreeb is a large sized sand dune located in proximity of Liwa Oasis at the Empty Quarter desert in the United Arab Emirates.
